Schaefer names Boyz starting 11 vs Chile
VINE DEL MAR, Chile – Reggae Boyz head coach Winfried Schaefer announced his starting eleven to face Chile in their friendly international here inside Estadio Sausalito at 7:30 pm (6:30 pm Jamaica time) today.
Goalkeeper Ryan Thompson will start, guarded by Adrian Mariappa and Jermaine Taylor in the centre of defence, flanked by Kemar Lawrence on the left and Je-Vaughn Watson on the right.
Central midfield will be patrolled by Lee Williamson and Michael Hector, who only arrived at the team’s base earlier this morning after a 20-hour flight from England, plus another two-hour bus ride to the hotel.
Garath McCleary will play out wide on the right, with Dever Orgill on the left. Giles Barnes will play as the withdrawn striker in behind Clayton Donaldson in a 4-4-1-1 formation.
The Reggae Boyz will be using this game to start their preparations for the upcoming Copa America Centenario slated for the United States from June 3-26.
They will leave Chile tomorrow night for Miami where they are booked for a four-day training camp ahead of journeying up to Chicago on June 2 for final preparations for their opening game against Venezuela at Soldier Field on June 5.
The Jamaicans are drawn in Group C and will also play Mexico at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on June 9 before completing their group fixture on June 13 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara against Uruguay.
