Four men arrested for stealing fibre optic cable

SPANISH TOWN, Jamaica – Detectives assigned to the Spanish Town Police arrested four men for allegedly stealing fibre optic cables in Spanish Town, St Catherine early Sunday, March 27.

Reports are that about 4:30 am while the lawmen were on an operation, checks were made at a telecommunications company’s site in the area where four men were seen removing fibre optic cables. Upon seeing the police the men ran, before making good their escape in a motorcar. 

The police followed them and the vehicle was intercepted on the Green Acres main road where it was searched and found to contain large quantities of fibre optic cables. The men were subsequently arrested.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
