Aabuthnott five who attacked teacher offered bail
OCHO RIOS, St Ann — The five students of Aabuthnott Gallimore High in St Ann, charged for assaulting the school’s Dean of Discipline, Gavin Myers, are now out on bail.
The boys, who are all 17, were each offered $200,000 bail with surety yesterday when they appeared before the Children’s Court in Brown’s Town.
They were charged last month with wounding with intent and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The charges stemmed from an incident at the school on April 27, where the five boys allegedly assaulted and wounded Myers, who attempted to remove them from the school compound.
At the time of the incident, the boys were on suspension from school because of alleged bad behaviour.
Myers sustained a broken leg and stab wounds to his shoulder and back.
The accused boys are to return to court on September 13.
