The National Housing Trust is seeking the services of an Attorney-at-Law on a contractual basis for its Company Secretariat and Legal Services Department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, the Attorney-at-Law will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing contracts for professionals involved in construction projects.

  • Preparing and vetting construction and construction financing contracts.

  • Providing legal opinions on the operations of the NHT.

  • Negotiating and completing purchases and sales of project lands, and preparing documents for sale of properties to beneficiaries.

  • Modifying restrictive covenants and rectifying breaches.

ELIGIBILITY

To be selected for this position the applicants must:

  • 1. Be an Attorney-at-Law qualified to practice in Jamaica

  • 2. Have ten (10) years experience in the areas of negotiation and contract preparation, particularly in the areas of commercial and construction law.

The following competencies are required to perform the above tasks:

  • Sound knowledge of the laws, practices and procedures relating to conveyancing and commercial transactions and construction law.

  • Excellent interpersonal/customer relations skill.

This successful candidate will be offered a contract for 3 years and will be required to maintain good working relations with public & private sector agencies and financial institutions.
