Tivoli gets a RE-TV stop
BY Kyle Campbell & Alexandria Nash Observer TEENage writers Pre-University School
Tuesday, May 06, 2008

The stop this week, on the RE-TV School Tour, was none other than Tivoli High School. When the artistes entered the compound, you could feel the energy and excitement that was to come. Tour host Supa Hype got things going and riled up the students for the rest of artistes.

First, we heard from sponsors Coca-Cola, and Melinda, who is a representative from Jamaica AIDS Support who shared her experiences and spoke about being infected with HIV.

TOK came decked out in their Tivoli High School uniform much to the delight of the students.

The first artiste up was the queen of hotness, D'Angel. She came out singing Downtown Girl, while shouting "Abstinence Mek Sense. Yuh done know say we deal college, TEENage pregnancy don't mek it, Love yourself!"

Then screams erupted as the popular tune Blaze started, and the whole school repeating "hotness is a gift, yuh haffi born wit it, it nuh come overnight, yuh haffi have it". She also sang her new song, the follow-up to Blaze, High Intensity before leaving the hyped Tivoli students.

Next was Serani, who popped up on the stage to receive big screams from the ladies. He started off with Study People, while having them shout "Think Abstinence". He told the students to wait to have sex, and he also told them to please stop the fighting. He then sang She Love Me and S***kin Rich, that had the students going wild.

The beautiful Strong One, Etana, came on stage next, belting songs like Warrior Love, and Wrong Address, among others. She had the students singing song after song.

Dancing group, Shady Squad came out giving an unbelievable performance, showing off their dance skills, as well as their comedic skills, making the students give off various sounds of awe.

Bugle was next and he came on building a nice vibe with the students of Tivoli, he told them "If your gonna have sex, protect yourself". He sang What Am Gonna Do, and then got into it a cappella style by the second verse, which was impressive. Then he told the students of a youth who gave him a chance, and made him voice the very riddim for the song (What Am Gonna Do). In jumps Serani and the crowd went WILD. They sang the hit, Doh.
The all-round performers came next.

First was the dancing duo RDX, who gave an energetic performance. They had the students shouting "Boom", with their songs, Everybody Dance and Dance. They were followed by the triple threat, Voice Mail, who had every lady of Tivoli in a frenzy!
They sang their new songs Gangalee and Get the Money. Also their sweet tune (off the Guardian Angel Riddim), Best Days of My Life. Kevin, of the group, jumped up to one of the speakers, which had the students in even more of frenzy.

Last up for the day was TOK, who sang No Man, Hey Ladies, and even Gal Yuh a Lead, (decked out in their Tivoli uniform) and took the time to speak on abstinence. Alex of TOK climbed up on to the speakers and started dancing, then climbed from the speakers to the second floor; Mack Squad sure had a chore in getting him down, but the students loved it.

TEENage spoke to two of the artistes after the show, Etana: "Full of vibes and imagery. I'm loving it." We also asked her what it's like being on Tour for the first time. She told us: "Very good, I can't complain, I'm always loving things with the youth dem."

Bugle: "Tivoli was good, not just the school but Tivoli in general, garrison me come from, I love the vibe". Special big up to D'Angel on her outfit, it was BLAZING! One more school has received the message on the road to Abstinence; don't you want to get the message, the vibe and the hype all into one? Who knows, it may be your change? Be on the lookout, and check TEENage every week for the updates.
