Mr Vegas' Man a Gallis video a snoozefest
Review: Man A Gallis/Sassa Step

DAZED and confused after watching the video for Mr Vegas' Man a Gallis, I've concluded that the brilliant colours are its only intriguing attribute. Jay Will has mastered the art of shooting eye-catching videos but storylines are utterly forgettable and down-right ridiculous. Paired with an expressionless Mr Vegas, this collaboration is as expected - a snoozefest.

Vegas' screen presence and charisma coupled with a non-existent chemistry with his co-stars, is about as intriguing as having surgery without anaesthesia. To complement Man A Gallis - an unapologetic declaration of womanising - by a video with a level of testosterone on par with that of the Million Man March, eludes logic.
It is disjointed, to say the least, losing its intended effect. Art is often abstract, but this quality of abstraction would be better appreciated in dentistry.
The monotonic gyrations of the female dancers, who were few and far between, were also less than impressive. Even more tragic was the first female lead miming to a monologue as in sync as an English-dubbed Asian film.
Sassa Step, the b-side of Man A Gallis, is a sequined-glove away from being a malignant tribute to the King of Pop. Undoubtedly crafted as homage to the late Michael Jackson, this thoughtful gesture unfortunately became lost in translation. Sassa Step is a reggae-styled track that samples Kool & the Gang's Cherish. Visualise listening to a song with the lyrics styled for a specific dance move of the same name, sampling a classic love song with a video resembling Michael Jackson's iconic Bad. Oh, and the inclusion of a fake Michael Jackson - massive bewilderment - did nothing to help the situation.
Apart from the choreography and effort of the dancers, which were both admirable, Man A Gallis was an epic failure.
Note to Vegas
1 Leave dancing to the 30 or 40 competent young men in the video.
2 Consult your local pharmacy for a dose of chemistry.
