Admirable

Friday, November 06, 2009

Dear Editor,
From a central banking and financial sector confidence perspective, the former governor must be commended for not getting into a public brawl with the government. Undoubtedly, the situation in Jamaica is a difficult one for both the government and the former governor.

Nevertheless, it is admirable that for seeking to ensure continuity and confidence in the financial market the former governor is prepared to take the high road. In my humble view, while it is important to get behind what led to his departure, I think it is equally or more important to re-examine the governance of the BOJ. At this critical juncture, the former governor's stance is a good one.
