Bio bags

Thursday, May 08, 2008

Dear Editor,

Educating the public to use biodegradable plastic bags could happen overnight if we were to charge $5 for duty to import or manufacture each non-biodegradable bag and also charge customers for the black "scandal" bags.

At that price, the bio bags could be imported duty-free and given free to customers, as I feel that the savings on the cost of cleaning environmental pollution would more than compensate for the eventual loss of income from the duty on the "scandal" bags.

Non-biodegradable plastic bottles, packaging, and plastic wrap, should also be really expensive to use.
