Hackers demand ransom to return Reggae Month Instagram page
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The Government-owned Instagram page for Reggae Month (@reggaemonthja) has been hacked and the culprits are reportedly demanding a ransom to return it.
Entertainment and Culture Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange made the revelation on her Twitter page a short while ago.
“The Reggae Month Secretariat advises that its Instagram account @reggaemonthja has been hacked and is being held for ransom,” the Minister tweeted Saturday.
Grange advised members of the public to disregard all communication from the hacked account.
Checks made by OBSERVER ONLINE showed that the Reggae Month Instagram account made three posts on Saturday morning. All of them were selfies of a Caucasian male.
The Reggae Month IG account has just over 45,000 followers and is one of the main platforms being used to promote this year’s Diamond Jubilee Independence activities.
