Hebrews 13:20a and 21: "Now the God of peace makes you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ." Once weekly, people from all walks of life congregate to engage in fellowship and this form is loosely called "the church." These unique collections of individuals come together with many different agendas, some enduring the songs that they are not familiar with or may not even like.
Some minds are wondering, visualising the meal after church. Some come with such determinedly hard and cold hearts that they cannot even be classified as "bench warmers". Some tune in and out of the sermon, depending on their state of slumber or the preacher's decibels. But there are many who come weekly simply to engage in worshipping the King of Kings and to hungrily feed on God's word. These are the faithful to their commitment to love and serve the Lord with all their hearts regardless of their present economic, domestic or social status. These men and women are easily identified by their genuine love and concern one for another. These are the ones who can identify with King David when he said he was glad to go to the house of the Lord. Although these collections of people are a mixed assembly, God is not intimidated by their variances. He will show up simply in obedience to His own word - "where two or three are gathered together in My name." The good news is that out of this conglomeration of individuals evolves the "true church". God has gracefully put us all together so that by His powerful and peaceful presence, He can work in us that which is pleasing in His sight.
Eternal Father, Your faithfulness every morning comes with new provisions of mercy. You have shown Your love for this nation that even while in our sinful state You sent Your only Son to redeem us with the price of his sinless life. We pray that we will be repentant, abound in good works and finally be pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus' name, Amen. celtakirk@yahoo.com
