Digicel enters fixed line market
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Telecommunications provider, Digicel has unveiled its fixed line product — DigiHome — following recent announcements that the company would enter that segment of the market, long dominated by its main competitor LIME.
“We have heard the dissatisfaction from customers with their current options and we are delighted to be launching our best value DigiHome product. It is affordable, convenient to set up and unlike other options in the market, comes with bundled minutes as a part of your subscription fee,” said Digicel CEO Barry O’Brien.
DigiHome is a fixed line voice service that is billed per second for postpaid customers It uses a wireless unit in a home to deliver voice and data services.
As part of the package, customers pay a monthly subscription fee that includes bundled minutes to call Digicel local fixed & mobile phones, and other landline numbers in Jamaica. Internationally, customers can use their bundled minutes to call the USA, Canada, UK landlines, Spain landlines, China, India & Digicel regional and Caribbean territories.
Digicel says that there is no installation fee or waiting period and the landline product also offers value added features such as voicemail, caller ID and call waiting for free. A prepaid landline service will be introduced next year.
