Woman dies after medical emergency on flight
PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands (CMC) — An American Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) late Wednesday after a female passenger fell ill mid-flight and died.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force said flight AA 2790 was heading from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to Charlotte, North Carolina when the 41-year-old woman became unwell.
She received cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the plane diverted to the Providenciales International Airport around 6:18 pm.
“A medical team, along with police units, were dispatched, and the patient was transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where she died. A post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death,” police said in a press statement.
The flight departed TCI and arrived in Charlotte just after 8:00 pm.
